Mailing List Overview
Each mailing list contains a set of subscribers.
An email address can only appear once in the mailing list.
Email addresses are used case-insensitively.
Mailing List Attributes
Each mailing list has the following attributes, which can be configured either when creating the list, or later by navigating to the mailing list’s home page, then going to “Admin” => “Edit”:
Basic Settings
Name |
The name of this list as it will appear in GreenArrow Studio and your subscription forms. |
Primary Key |
Specifying a custom field to use as the list’s primary key will allow the list to contain multiple subscribers with the same email address. Only Text or Number custom fields that are required may be selected as the primary key. The primary key may only be changed if there are no subscribers and no subscription web forms in this list. Using this feature will require that subscribers have case-insensitive unique values for that custom field. |
Use Custom Headers |
Include extra headers when delivering email to this mailing list. |
Custom Headers |
These headers will be included with all emails sent from this mailing list. Specify one header per line. Headers must be one of the following:

Redirect Unsubscribes |
Enable an unsubscribe redirect URL to send subscribers to the specified address after unsubscribing. Subscribers that unsubscribe via the |
Unsub Redirection URL |
The URL that subscribers will be sent to after unsubscribing. |
Is Remote List |
Only configurable at mailing list creation time. A remote list does not store any recipients in the GreenArrow Studio database. When sending a campaign the recipient list is retrieved from a remote database connection with a user-defined query. This disables the following features: Autoresponders, Web Forms, Subscriber Imports, and Subscriber Exports. |
Remote Database |
Only shown if this is a remote list. This is the database connection that will be used for retrieving campaign recipients. |
Format Field |
This mailing list will have a format field to specify whether the subscriber wants Plaintext or HTML emails. |
Campaign Defaults
Seed Lists |
The seed list(s) to include in campaigns to this mailing list. This is how you enable the seed list based delivery monitoring tools. |
Sending Speed |
Campaigns to this mailing list will be throttled to this many messages per hour. Set to 0 for un-throttled. The per-user limit of messages/hour also applies as a cap. |
From Name |
The person or company that should be shown in the “From Name” field for campaigns to this mailing list. |
From Email |
The email address that should be shown in the “From Email” field for campaigns to this mailing list. |
Sender Email |
This email address will be used in the “Sender” header of outgoing emails. |
Reply-To Email |
The email address that should receive replies to campaigns from this mailing list. |
Virtual MTA |
The Virtual MTA (and thus IP address) from which the mailing list sends. |
URL Domain |
The domain name that will be used for the clickthrough and open URLs in the email message. If this is not set, then the system default URL domain will be used. |
Bounce Email |
When an email bounces or is rejected by the mail server, the error message will be sent to the bounce email address. |
Special Sending Rule |
Use a special sending rule for campaigns to this mailing list. This usually overrides the Virtual MTA settings or another setting based off of specific subscriber data. Rules must be set up by your programmer ahead of time. |
Enable Split-Test Automatic Winner Selection |
With split-test automatic winner selection enabled, campaigns will split-test all contents to a portion of the recipients, then use the winning content for the remainder of the recipients. |
Size of Split-Test |
Only shown if Split-Test Automatic Winner Selection is enabled. This is the percentage of the campaign’s recipients that will be used as a split test to determine the winning content. The remainder of the campaign will be sent using the winning content. |
Decision Delay |
Only shown if Split-Test Automatic Winner Selection is enabled. This determines how long to pause between sending the split-test recipients and determining the winning content. This allows time for recipients to click and open the email. |
Decision Metric |
Only shown if Split-Test Automatic Winner Selection is enabled. The split-test content with the highest value of this metric will be sent to the remaining recipients. |
Google Analytics
Google Analytics Enabled |
Google Analytics integration will add Google Analytics parameters to links for campaigns and autoresponders that have click tracking enabled. |

This is your Google Analytics Measurement ID. It should look something like “UA-123456789-11“ (for Universal Analytics) or “G-ABCDEFGH“ (for Google Analytics 4). |
Source |
Only shown if Google Analytics is enabled. This is the “Source” field that will be sent to Google Analytics. |
Restrict Domain List |
Only shown if Google Analytics is enabled. Enabling “Restrict Domain List” will cause GreenArrow Studio to only apply Google Analytics parameters to links to one of the specified domains. Leave it disabled to apply those parameters to all links sent from this mailing list. |
Tracking Domains |
Only shown if Google Analytics is enabled. Links to domains specified in this list will be updated with Google Analytics parameters. |
